About the Painting
Overlord Mountain and Fissile Peak captures the crisp silence of the alpine above Whistler, British Columbia. Layers of snow, rock and distant ridgelines emerge through a restrained palette of Prussian blue and titanium white.
Graham found the inspiration while skiing near 7th Heaven on Blackcomb Mountain. The monochromatic palette removes distraction and concentrates attention on shape, light and the immense scale of the mountains.
The Story Behind the Painting
From the high alpine viewpoint, Overlord Mountain and the unmistakable profile of Fissile Peak rise beyond Whistler’s ski slopes. Rather than recreating every natural colour, Graham worked primarily with Prussian blue and titanium white to emphasize value, form and distance.
The result recalls the quiet experienced high above the village, where the landscape feels immense and the familiar noise of daily life disappears.
