The story behind Spirit of the North

The grizzly is one of the most enduring symbols of the Canadian wilderness. Its presence communicates strength, resilience and independence without requiring aggression.

Graham placed the bear against a dark background to remove every distraction. Without a detailed landscape, the viewer’s attention stays on the bear’s expression, powerful structure and richly painted fur.

Vivid cool colours create shadow and depth, while warmer highlights move across the face and body. This balance of hot and cold colour gives the bear a luminous quality and separates the painting from a conventional wildlife portrait.

Timing

The painting will normally be prepared for dispatch within five business days. Most orders arrive within approximately 12–15 business days of purchase, depending on destination and carrier.
