The story behind the artwork
Original Polar Bear Wildlife Painting – Polar Solitude
Polar Solitude is an original 30 × 40 inch oil on canvas painting by Canadian artist Graham Watts, depicting a solitary polar bear standing on Arctic ice beneath a luminous night sky.
The bear is illuminated with soft gold, violet and cool blue tones that contrast against the frozen landscape. Above, stars and atmospheric light create a quiet, almost dreamlike setting, while reflections across the ice reinforce the stillness and isolation of the scene.
The composition combines detailed wildlife realism with expressive colour and light, capturing the strength, calm and presence of one of the Arctic’s most iconic animals.
Created for collectors drawn to polar bear art, Canadian wildlife paintings and original animal artwork, Polar Solitude is a dramatic statement piece inspired by the beauty and solitude of the northern landscape.
